Online estate sales in Charlottesville
Listed where the item will actually sell — then the house still gets cleared.
An online estate sale is for pieces that do better with a listing than with a weekend of foot traffic: furniture, collectibles, tools, and housewares a buyer will come pick up or pay to ship. Listings go on the Charlottesville Estate Cleanout online shop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and other sites that fit the item.
Online does not mean the house sits full while listings linger. The walkthrough sets what gets listed, how long it is offered, and where unsold pieces go — Goodwill, the Habitat Store, McIntire, or disposal.
How it works
- 1
Walk the house and choose what is worth listing versus donating outright.
- 2
Photograph and list each piece on the shop, Marketplace, eBay, or another fitting site.
- 3
Coordinate pickup or shipping, and pull listings that do not move.
- 4
Donate, recycle, or dispose of what is left, and leave the rooms clear.
Online Estate Sale questions
- Where are items listed?
- On the Charlottesville Estate Cleanout online shop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and other sites when they are the right place for that item. Not everything belongs on every site.
- Do buyers come to the house?
- For local pickup, yes — by appointment, not as an open house. Shipping is used when the item and the buyer call for it.
- How long do listings stay up?
- Long enough to get a fair look, and not so long that a listing date or a lease end slips. The window is part of the consultation.
- Can an online sale be combined with an in-home sale?
- Yes. Larger furniture often sells better in the house, while single collectibles do better online. Both can run from the same sort.
