Charlottesville Estate CleanoutsCall

Tips & guides

Practical answers families in Charlottesville actually need — costs, donation, listing timelines, and how a cleanout is sorted.

Frequently asked questions

What happens at the initial walkthrough?
We walk the house — in person, or by video if you're out of town — and sort what we see into keep, sell, donate, recycle, and dispose. The consultation is how the scope gets set. Nothing is hauled until those categories are clear.
Can you pack or store what the family is keeping?
Yes. Items to keep can be packed and moved, or stored until you're ready for them. Mark them during the walkthrough so they are never mixed in with a sale or a donation load.
How do estate sales work?
An in-home estate sale is held at the property. An online estate sale lists items through the Charlottesville Estate Cleanout online shop, Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and other sites that fit the piece. Many houses use both. What doesn't sell still gets donated, recycled, or disposed of.
Where do donations, recycling, and trash go?
Donations go to Goodwill and the Habitat Store. Recycling goes to the McIntire Recycling Center. What is left is hauled with Cville Junk Removal and disposed of through the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority.
How do I hear about upcoming sales?
Leave your email on the site. We'll write when a sale is on the calendar and when notable items are listed online. That list is only for sales and listed items.
What does a free consultation include?
A look at the property and a plan: what stays, what is worth selling, what should be donated or recycled, and what has to be disposed of. You get the scope before any work is scheduled.
