Room and closet cleanouts in Charlottesville

One bedroom, one closet, one garage bay — the same sort as a whole house, on a smaller job.

Not every call is a whole estate. A parent moving into a smaller place may only need the spare room and the hall closet. An executor may already have cleared the main floor and be left with one packed bedroom. A room or closet cleanout is that smaller scope.

The categories do not change because the job is smaller. Keepers are packed or stored. Anything worth selling is listed or held for a sale. Usable clothing and housewares go to Goodwill and the Habitat Store. Recycling goes to McIntire. The rest is hauled with Cville Junk Removal.

How it works

  1. 1

Tell us which rooms, and send a photo or two so the scope is the room and not the whole house.

  2. 2

Sort that space into keep, sell, donate, recycle, and dispose.

  3. 3

Pack what stays. Donate and recycle what should. Haul the rest.

  4. 4

The room is left empty and swept. The rest of the house is left alone.

Room / Closet Cleanout questions

Is a closet too small to bother with?
If it is a few boxes, you may not need anyone. If it is a closet or a room you have been walking past for years, it is a normal job — and it is priced as that room, not as a whole house.
Can this be added to a whole-home cleanout?
Yes. Attics, closets, and one last bedroom are often part of the larger job. Mention them at the consultation so they are in the scope.
Will you donate clothing?
Clean, usable clothing and household goods go to Goodwill and the Habitat Store. Anything too worn is disposed of rather than dropped on a charity.
Do you take just the furniture and leave the closet?
We take the scope you set. A dresser only, or the dresser and everything behind it — say which one.
